GARMENT CARE DISCALIMER

1. RELIANCE ON CARE LABELS AND INDUSTRY STANDARDS

Washables follows the care instructions provided by the garment manufacturer on the permanently attached care label. You acknowledge and agree that Washables shall not be held liable for damage arising from manufacturer defects, incorrect labeling, or instructions that result in adverse reactions during standard processing. In the absence of a care label, our technicians will use their professional judgment to select the most appropriate cleaning method; however, by submitting a garment without a label, you accept all associated risks, including but not limited to fabric degradation or structural failure.

2. INHERENT RISKS OF THE CLEANING PROCESS

The customer acknowledges that even with the highest level of professional care, certain fabrics and construction methods possess inherent risks during the cleaning, drying, or pressing cycles. Washables is not responsible for:

  • Shrinkage: Natural fibers such as wool, silk, and cotton may experience minor shrinkage despite temperature-controlled processing.
  • Color Fastness and Bleeding: We are not liable for color bleeding or fading caused by manufacturer use of non-colorfast dyes or “bleeding” that occurs in multi-colored garments during a standard wash cycle.
  • Fabric Fatigue: Thinning of fibers, small holes, or “pilling” that becomes visible only after the removal of dirt and oils.
  • Weakened Seams: Breakdown of aged or low-quality threads and adhesives during the agitation process.

3. COMPONENT FAILURES AND TRIMMINGS

Garments often feature decorative elements or functional hardware that may not react well to cleaning solvents or agitation. Washables assumes no liability for the following items:

  • Hardware: Loss or damage to buttons, zippers, snaps, buckles, or pulls.
  • Adhesives: Failure of “iron-on” patches, glued-on sequins, beads, or heat-pressed vinyl graphics.
  • Internal Structures: Damage to shoulder pads, interfacing, or “boning” in structured garments.
  • Elasticity: The natural loss of elasticity in waistbands or spandex blends over time, which may become apparent after laundering.

4. STAIN REMOVAL LIMITATIONS

While Washables utilizes advanced chemical spotting agents, we do not guarantee the total removal of any stain. The success of stain removal depends on the nature of the substance, the fabric type, and whether the customer attempted to treat the stain prior to handover. You acknowledge that the process of attempting to remove a deep-set stain carries a risk of “color loss” or “fiber chafing” in the affected area. If our technicians determine that further stain removal efforts will compromise the integrity of the fabric, we will cease treatment and return the garment as-is.

5. CUSTOMER INSPECTION AND PRE-EXISTING CONDITION

It is the customer’s responsibility to inspect garments for damage or items left in pockets before handover. Washables is not responsible for damage caused by items left in pockets (e.g., ink pens, lipstick, gum, coins, or lighters) which may leak or damage the entire load. Furthermore, Washables is not liable for damage to garments that were already in a state of distress (e.g., small tears, insect damage, or chemical burns) upon receipt. We reserve the right to photograph garments during the intake process to document pre-existing conditions as part of our quality control records.

6. DELICATE AND VINTAGE ITEMS

Items identified as “Vintage” or those exceeding ten (10) years in age are processed with extreme caution; however, due to the natural aging of fibers, these items are highly susceptible to disintegration. By submitting vintage or highly delicate items without a “Specialized Care” declaration, the customer waives any claim for damages resulting from the standard cleaning process.

7. DISPOSITION OF UNIDENTIFIED RESIDUE

Washables is not responsible for “mystery spots” that appear after cleaning. Certain substances, such as perfume, hairspray, or colorless fruit juices, may not be visible upon intake but can oxidize and turn brown or yellow when exposed to heat during the drying or pressing process. These are considered pre-existing conditions for which the Company bears no liability.

8. ACCEPTANCE OF RISK

By utilizing the services of Washables, the customer agrees that the Company’s liability is limited to the terms set forth in this Disclaimer and the Lost, Damaged, and Missing Items Policy (WASH-OPS-LDM-2026-011). This disclaimer applies to all services, including Wash & Fold, Specialized Care, and Self-Service operations.
